Buck's Mills Poetry Festival

I have just returned from the delightful debut poetry festival at Buck's Mills in Devon, England, hosted by the invincible Merlynda Robinson (see that gorgeous fiery head to your left).

What a joy to meet all the poets and to attend with my friend Clare Glynn-Chitan. She lives in London, so we met there and then took the train to Bideford and stayed at Bishop's Tawton. We both read our poems and shared our books. Just an incredibly lovely experience!

What a joy it was to give a poetry reading at this outstanding venue -- friendly folks, generous and responsive. I read some poems from my Earth Gospel collection as well as "My Uterus Didn't Wander" and a few others.

I was able to participate in this community reading while I was in residence at Rivendell Writers Colony. I had a slot among the scheduled readers, and an open mic section followed. I read for 15 minutes -- five poems or so. As I recall, the poems were "When My Lovers Eyes Flash," "Bitters," "Nomads," "Sower with Setting Sun: Ekphrasis to Van Gogh," and "My Uterus Didn't Wander."  The other readers were exceptional -- really a joy to be there.
