About
I'm from Alabama but have lived in South Carolina for about twelve years now. Alabama is the home of my faith, and it is where my Granny Moon's old house still stands, in New Market. Not far from there is the Tennessee line. My mother is buried in Vanntown, Tennessee in a church cemetery lined with pear trees, next to her brother, my Uncle Terry. Mama was born in Oliver Springs, Tennessee.
That is where the story began... with my mama, who taught me to read very early and to love books. We went to the library every week; I have always had a library card and was taught to appreciate this incredible free resource for the magical opportunity that it is. I can go anywhere in my mind. I've only been outside the U.S. once, earlier this year -- to grand old Ireland --- but I've been to the Middle Ages, Britan, The Land That Time Forgot, the Civil War, France.... and so many other places, real or imagined, in books. When I was pregnant with my daughter, Jillian, I read fifty Agatha Christie books, and when she was born, we hit the ground running with books for her. She grew up in Winnie the Pooh's world.

My own childhood held many books, as I said. It also held the dreams of a curious little girl.
